The Journey Home
According to Greg Braden, a scientist who began to bridge spirituality with science, “Consciousness is the language that the Universe uses to communicate with itself.” If we ask Matías De Stefano, it’s not just what the Universe uses, it is the Universe, what it is made up of. Dr. Robert Gilbert explains that we moved from the singularity—the zero dimensional point—which then expanded to become the “sphere of manifest creation”.
How can we make sense of these ideas? We can view it like this: the Universe is an expansion of “consciousness energy” that has unfolded out of a Unity point (Source) into layers and layers of fragmentation or subjectivity. This allows the creation of experience.
Now, once “stuff” comes out of the Unity, it is on a natural timer. Everything that is manifested has a "life/death" cycle, even the universe itself. It expands from the "Big Bang" and eventually, it will reverse and contract back to nothing—zero. This returning process is directly experienced by us—subjectively—as how many awakened beings there are in the Universe. The Universe is the sum of all the “souls” that have descended into manifestation. When everyone has "Awakened" we would all have returned to the Absolute. At that point, manifestation would cease for this Universe.
Some may read this and find all manifestation, then, to be meaningless. Others attest to this being the VERY purpose of the Universe itself. The consciousness energy “wanted to know” and experience all knowledge and experiences, hence it divided itself, giving rise to forms. The final journey of awakening for those souls who choose the path of realization, brings with it the ultimate knowing or “enlightenment” during the return to Source, a profound experience for that part of the consciousness.
So then, what is the Awakening for the individual? Awakening is simply raising our understanding of reality. There can be degrees and degrees of awakening. This can go on seemingly infinitely. These layers of realization are received as a series of reality-breaking events, depending on what we are able to expand to. When we constrict and hold onto any paradigm, system, dogma, or idea of how it is, we then “lock in” to that new reality and, for the time being, we prevent ourselves from expanding further to see something new.
Now, there is a big and critical step along this series of layers of awakening. This step is very important because it marks the beginning of feeling free from pain and suffering in daily life. This step is called disidentification. It was the treasured state glorified in the Buddhist tradition and achieved according to their methods through intense surrender of normal living and many hours of lifelong dedication to meditation. However, there are also other methods which lead to the same state. Each must find their own way.
Disidentification is the one thing that can assist us greatly in moving as close as we can go towards a view of objective reality—the surrender of attachment to all illusion. This means completely giving up and letting go of the person we think we are, his or her cravings or desires and aversions, their attachments to any kind of group, procedure or method. When we do this—surrender and reset, what we are truly tapping into energetically is the full balancing of our creative energy in all planes of the manifested construct, aligning with Divinity all the way back up to Source.
Disidentification is a level of the awakening process that, once we reach it, we have mastered detachment from “the Construct” — the perceived reality. Supposed “ego death” is simply related to removing further layers of our subjective conditioning which has entrapped us within our current reality. This process of ego death is carried out through comprehension of the conditioning energy that has trapped us. The conditioning is a kind of structure—called in Buddhism an aggregate. This is actually a structure which is separate from us or our Essence, we could say. We discover this when we view from the position of the OBSERVER; and therefore we understand that this energy structure is actually a completely separate illusory entity which we had created ourselves.
Obviously, as we move along the stages and layers of detaching from our person, inviting in higher energies, of Universal Love and Bliss, all our experiences continue to be subjective in their own way, but there is a way to remain stable in the process. We press closer and closer towards objectivity by walking the middle path, being within life, but not attaching to any thing, continuously balancing our energy in all circumstances. This is also known as the path of the razor’s edge, being a path of full and complete energetic balance. This is the ONLY mathematical equation which leads to Awakening from “the Construct”. We achieve this through complete and total equanimity. How we get into and maintain this state is the part that is unique to the individual—their own path which they must find.
Some people may not be ready to do this kind of inner work, however, at some stage we all have to “go home”. And we do this in different ways. We can return through a process of pain or—for some saints and sages—bliss. Those souls who experience the agitation of materialism seeming to be meaningless and the deep inner yearning to experience the Unity once more are often called “seekers”.
Because of the nature of the seeking process, one may often seek a school and at some point in a particular incarnation, the soul may be driven towards an esoteric school or a mystery school which teaches particular practices that work on the energies the soul has become entangled within.
In many esoteric schools, there is a reference to two paths of an opposite nature, the right and the left. Secretly, these themes of esotericism are referenced in countless movies and shows. Some of these shows appear to be focusing on the left handed path, being one which strengthens the ego whilst seeking to unlock powers which give a kind of control over nature.
However, both the right handed path and the left handed path eventually lead us off the straight path. The truth is that we can take up a method to get us started, BUT, we must EVENTUALLY find our own inner frequency that connects us to the Unity.
As Master Samael Aun Weor said, we each have our own unique individual keynote.
"Strait is the gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it,"
Matthew 7:14
